Your tour starts with a short film show in a 150 year old Victorian Railway Tunnel before heading off into purpose built Air raid Precaution tunnels under the town of Ramsgate.
Hear about the “Mad Mayor” who saved the town.
Tours are up to 1.25 kilometres and will last approximately 1 hour 30 mins. You will be accompanied by a guide throughout. hard hats must be worn and personal lighting must be carried in the Air raid Tunnels. These will be provided at the start of your tour. Sensible footwear is recommended (flat shoes, boots) High heels are not permitted.
The tunnels are at a constant temperature of around 11 degrees Celsius, they may appear cool in the summer but warm in winter.
Note: there is a small coffee/tea shop near the entrance with a few tables, this is all decked out in the 40s era, Peter & Melanie have visited the tunnels and found it fascinating and well worth the visit.
